Boy Scout Troop 230 is dedicated to the three aims of Scouting:

To develop character

To foster citizenship

To develop fitness

We strive to achieve these three aims through the methods of Scouting. These methods include the Patrol System, an Outdoor Program, Advancement, Personal Growth, Adult Association, Leadership Development, the Uniform, and the Ideals of Scouting. the Ideals are reflected through the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.

Troop 230 is run by the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) which is comprised of the boy leaders. Under the leadership of the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) - a scout who is elected by his peers - the troop plans and conducts their activities, which include weekly troop meetings and monthly outdoor activities. Troop 230 is proud to be a troop that camps year round!

The role of the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters is to train the boy leaders, guide and counsel them, which includes letting them learn from their mistakes. We encourage the scouts to work out problems for themselves but will step in if needed.

Again, welcome to Troop 230. We hope it will be a rewarding experience for your son and for your whole family.
